About Us

We're The Brown Bag Bistro, and we've been a leading American-style restaurant here in Alton, IL, since 2018. We have been helping our customers enjoy food that is both scrumptious and popular for more than five years. We offer a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and other delicious foods. Our desserts include cheesecake and ice cream to satisfy even the most critical sweet tooth. Our beer and wine selection make us one of the top places in Alton for those looking for a night out on the town. Our Story

Co-owners and mother-daughter team Chris and Erin Velloff started Brown Bag Bistro together in 2018. Chris had a lifelong dream of opening her own restaurant and after her daughter, Erin, graduated college, they decided to take the risk together. Brown Bag Bistro has been providing their local community with delicious food and friendly service ever since!

We’re a family-owned and operated business that makes fresh and consistent sandwiches that are unlike any of our competitors! Our made-to-order sandwiches are completely unique, so stop by Brown Bag Bistro for a one-of-a-kind eating experience. Our menu also includes soups, salads, appetizers, and desserts like ice cream and cheesecake. We also have a beer and wine selection that makes us the best place in town for a night out!

Very cute warm atmosphere sandwich shop. Had the Sammy Roo and Mac & Cheese... the sause that's used on the sandwich was absolutely amazing and the whole thing was just so tasty. The Mac was great, I could taste the "extra" touch that made it soo good. Very happy to have discovered this place, and its not too far from my house. Im so coming back here for a quick weekend bite to eat. You all are doing it right here!

Thoroughly enjoying my club from Brown Bag Bistro! The cashier was very friendly, even though I arrived about 25 minutes to close. I got my food to go to avoid keeping them there late, but ordered a beer while I waited and all employees were very mannerly and kind, and didn't make me feel awkward for being there up until around 5, when they closed. I got the macaroni as my side, and it is also phenomenal! Food was fresh and hot after 2 stops on my way home. I'm very pleased with my overall experience here.
